The Choeung Ek Genocidal Center, in Dangkao district south of the city, is a memorial on the site where victims of the Khmer Rouge regime were killed and buried between 1975 and 1979. A memorial stupa stands at its centre. Visit quietly, with arms and legs covered; the audio guide sets the pace. We could find no official website for the memorial, so we give no hours or prices: ask your hotel or driver before you go.
Why it's on our list
- Visit quietly
- Not for young children
Opening hours, prices and seasonal openings change, so please check with The Choeung Ek Genocidal Center before you go.
