The back story

About Koh Dach: the silk island

Koh Dach is an island in the Mekong just north-east of Phnom Penh, known as Silk Island for the weavers who work looms under their stilt houses. It is reached by road from the Chroy Changvar side of the river.

Getting there

By tuk-tuk, car or bicycle from the Chroy Changvar side; ask your hotel for the best route on the day.

The weavers

Under many houses you will find a loom; weavers sell scarves and lengths of silk directly.

Go by tuk-tuk, car or bicycle: your hotel can arrange it.

Our advice: go in the morning and buy from the weavers themselves.
