The Central Market, Phsar Thmei, is the hub of the old commercial centre: an Art Deco hall of the 1930s under a yellow dome, with the shophouse streets around it.
Come in the morning for the food stalls, and walk on to Wat Phnom to the north.
Look up under the dome before you look at the jewellery.
Our advice: bargain with a smile, and carry small notes in riel or dollars.
